A visit was definitely on the cards since the launch of the furniture line marked a milestone as now the Bombay Store would become a one stop shop for all home styling ideas in the city.
So here I set to begin my expedition exploring different kinds of furniture that would suit my home decor. Being a customer it is very important to know what you are investing in. The cut to modern carvings and finishes is difficult for a lay man to understand. That’s where I saw a man, dumpy, salt-peppered hair with a tarn full of information about the furniture, standing next to the furniture collection. His name was Sandeep and he was from Forms, a company based in Nagpur.
A conversation with the man was necessary to understand the importance of investing on a hand crafted teak wood furniture line. From the conversation shared with the man I understood that the eminence of the furniture is first chosen very carefully since the end product had to be beyond perfect. The teak wood used by Forms to make their furniture was of an A grade quality which happens to be the best in the teak wood line of woods. Prudently hand-crafted by his 700 craftsmen, the excellence of the furniture was evident in its display.
The line of furniture displayed at the Bombay Store included a mix of classic and contemporary pieces of wood. Inspired by vintage art, a few collections bring back ancestral memories of comfort and elegance, in their work. The line also included some interesting pieces of art which involved furniture collections of abstract shapes and geometrical forms. The varied collection also includes beds, side tables, couches, dining tables & chairs, sofa chairs, ottomans, bar units, center tables, coffee tables and nesting tables.
I tried understanding the whole process behind why one should spend a few thousands more and opt for an A grade teak wood furniture instead of a lower grade teak wood. To which Mr. Sandep rightly pointed out that the life of an A grade teak wood will be 10-20 years more than the regular furniture line. He further elaborated that at Forms, a lot of time is invested in choosing the wood after which it undergoes a quality check process before it is sent ahead for further detailing.
Also, what I understood from the conversation was that these furniture collections at The Bombay Store were customizable. Sometimes most furnitures aren't purchased by customers, no matter how much they love it, because of the space restrictions back home. The idea of customisable furniture of this quality comes as a blessing for the customers. Delivery of the customisable requirement wouldn't take much of a time, thus making it hassle-free and easy to book.
After the immense knowledge shared by Mr. Sandeep,
I moved around to catch a glimpse of an event at the store wherein the Managing Director of The Bombay Store- Mr.Asim Dalal, along with Better Interiors Magazine Editor – Ms. Rupali Sebastian unveiled the 8th anniversary issue of the Better Homes magazine. Mr. Asim shared his thoughts on how momentous the launch of the furniture collection was to them and how convenient it will now be for their customers to shop for their home.
Post that event, I left the store with an in-depth understanding about the world of wood. This innovative move from The Bombay Store will be important for its customers because at the end of the day when it comes to serious designs and extraordinary quality of furniture, the price tag really doesn’t matter. Going by the amount of work involved, followed by some intelligent designing behind, the prices are justified for a quality like that.
So if you are looking forward to renovate your house or simply buy a new line of collection, go ahead and experience the new cult of modern design and vintage collections of hand crafted A grade teak wood furniture line from The Bombay Store. You won’t regret it!
